Hair colouring tips
Expert advice for achieving a great result
Our experts have put together these hair colouring tips to ensure you get a result you'll love.
Tried and true hair colouring tips
- Fine hair generally takes less time to absorb colour than coarse hair.
- Your "starting" colour is the colour on your head right now. Your "starting" colour + a new hair colour = your new hair colour.
- Do your re-touch or root application when 1cm of new hair shows, usually about 4 weeks after colouring your hair.
- After colour treatment, avoid exposing your hair to the sun. The sun is a natural hair lightener, and over-exposure can cause hair to fade or even change colour.
- Shampoo or rinse you hair immediately after swimming in chlorine or salt water. Chemicals left in the hair can accelerate fading, especially when mixed with the sun.
- Use Clairol's unique ColourSealTM Gloss conditioner once a week to maintain that just coloured look and feel.
